This is a follow-up to a Blog that was released not that long ago. Dealing with racism and the fact that an institution is trying to use racism. So before you go any further please read the following blog this link.

I received an email correspondence between an angry parent and the college about this ordeal. So with their permission I am sharing it with you.

Good Evening,

I wanted to take the time to let you know that my son is going to be going to college soon and wants to stay close to home so I checked out brockport. Your college is absolutely beautiful with all the new work going into it but I did see something that caught my eye and made me extremely upset. In the union where you buy tickets near the bookstore there is a poster up meant to battle racism. It is a picture of a white woman that says got privilege and states other things like doesn’t get monitored at stores, etc. This poster does nothing but make anyone that is not white hate white people. I am a white woman and I do not and have not ever had white privilege. I have worked hard struggling for everything I have. I think this poster is disgusting and should be taken down. My son and daughter are half white and half Spanish I would never want them to encounter hate because other’s think they are privliage because they are part white. I don’t usually get into politics or complain about things but this poster really bothered me. I would hope you would take this down and put up something that would actually battle racism. I appreciate you taking the time to listen to my concerns.

Sincerely,

With held.

 Julie,

Thank you for your your prompt response I really appreciate it. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely,

With Held

I’m hoping that I’ve been kept in the loop with this entire situation. I’m glad that my blog was able to help this parent who had a bad situation motivate them two do something about it. I just hope that the issue doesn’t become a dead one. I hope these are steps to better processes.
